Happy New Year....on January 30

Wow! Long break I know. I apologize for that but all my music I've been listening to lately is stuff that hasn't been released yet! After the Bloc Party post where I had legal action threatened against me, that really spooked me for posting new music pre-release date.

2007 is incredible so far. Three fantastic albums have been released and these are the ones I wasn't anticipating that highly for the year.

Fall Out Boy leaked the Saturday before the Patriots/Colts game. It's fantastic. It's like they're attempting to escape their scene image. They've got some really fantastic songs on the record including an R&B influenced song, a piano song, some horns, some strings. They of course have their signature pop-punk sound but they're progressing into more of a pop wrecking ball instead of just 'the emo band from Chicago'. If you're looking for any Sugar We're Goin Down, you'll be disappointed. Here's the album opener featuring Jay Z called Thriller. Contrary to what I just said, this is pretty typical Fall Out Boy with the chorus "long live the car-crash hearts". Whatever, it's a great song.

The Klaxons, who were my first ever post on The Modern Hype, released their album Myths of the Near Future.... today! But it leaked only a few days before hand. It's great. I never understood the 'new-rave' genre they were placed into, and I don't think they understand it either because they open the album with a drum-beat rip off of She's Hearing Voices by Bloc Party with dark, atmospheric piano. The album is very good, a little lazy (used 4 tracks from their 5 track EP, though they are more polished and put the EP versions to shame), but it's definately worth checking out if you're looking for something that doesn't sound like a whole lot else out there. Here's my favourite song that hasn't been heard till now...As Above, So Below.

Arcade Fire leaked. It's true. It's a terrible quality though, well no, not terrible. But if you're picky like me, I casually listen to it with the intention to buy the record to hear how it supposed to sound, completely mastered and beautiful. It sounds fantastic though, think Funeral but with a pounding confidence. I really like these guys so I will only upload their first single, Intervention. I dare you not to like this song, it's impossible not to. They must be going nuts at the label, not out until March 6th I believe.

A great first single is also available from the Kaiser Chiefs. Get your fist pumping with the new track Ruby!

S0 much new music. If anybody is looking to find these leaked albums in full, I suggest typing in "YSI atease" on google. But you didn't hear that from me.

I've got a lot more I want you to hear, including a band that Pitchfork recommended to me, and I rarely dig Pitchfork bands, too condescending towards a lot of deserving artists. I'll upload some of that stuff within the week.
